WORKSHOPS BY LOU

As an experienced arts teacher with over 25 years of experience I adore creating meaningful creative workshops for people of all ages and backgrounds to try new things in a safe and supportive environment.
Why book a workshop with me?
My workshops aim to:

🔴 build creative confidence
🟣 help participants learn new tools for creative expression and relaxation
🟡 be engaging, fun and memorable
🟢 be a safe and welcoming learning environment regardless of participants prior experience or background
🔵 introduce or extend participants understanding of how mindfulness can easily be incorporated into our day to day lives.
🟠 inspire participants to continue to develop creative practices after the workshop

TESTIMONIALS

“It was a pleasure hosting you and I received so much positive feedback from your event. Thank you for your skilled facilitation and inspiring teaching” (Bryony - librarian).

“Thank you so much for facilitating such a wonderful session. The connection and engagement with the process attendees had was so impressive for a 2 hour workshop, and absolutely thanks to your wonderful facilitation and creating a beautiful safe space.” (Anita)

”I certainly hope to have you at one of our Libraries again, perhaps next year. I’ll let my team know so we can factor this into our planning” (librarian)

“Your sessions are always a hit at our libraries 😊” (Karina - librarian)

“Such a wonderful workshop, enjoyed by all – the children, the parents and the library staff! Lou had a great rapport with the children and it was a fantastic learning experience for everyone involved. With tranquil music playing in the background, Lou guided the children from the initial planning and drawing stages through to the completed window artwork. All the children were captivated and took great interest in all aspects of the workshop. Lou had researched the fauna and flora of our local area and incorporated this knowledge into the workshop. Lou also did a fantastic job of talking about and including the library’s resources in the workshop and encouraging the children to make use of these resources in the planning stages and for later research.” (Helen, librarian)

“An extremely successful and very worthwhile workshop, leaving the Library with a beautiful art installation and the children and their families with lots to think about.” (Librarian).

WORKSHOPS FOR LIBRARIES

MINDFUL DOODLING FOR ADULTS (ages 15+)
A wonderful way to lean into the practice of mindfulness, these doodling workshops are designed for you to relax and enjoy the process of drawing without any pressure on the end result. Participants will be invited to join in gentle discussions as they doodle to discuss how mindful practices can bring calm to our lives and help us to self regulate. A lovely antidote to the stresses of modern life.

MINDFUL MANDALAS FOR ADULTS (age 15+)
Mandalas have long been used in many different cultures as a way to help us become centred and calm. In this workshop, participants will be guided to draw their own mindful mandala with simple step by step exercises. Soothing, relaxing and very grounding.
MINDFUL DOODLING FOR CHILDREN (aged 4+)
Instilling children with a sense of wonder of the natural world around them is one of the greatest gifts we can offer them. In this mindful doodling session, children will play with nature patterns to create artworks that focus on the joy and calm that comes with mark-making and add their final artwork to a “Mindful Tree” - which can be left to adorn a library wall or window.
WINDOW ART FOR CHILDREN (aged 5+)
White chalk paint is a temporary and easily removable art medium - and is perfect for budding artists to test out their skills and get creative! In this workshop children will create their own designs using library resources for inspiration before selecting their favourite design to create their own piece on a window. Perfect for libraries and children's creative craft mornings!
