Bespoke Window Art are unique pieces of temporary art drawn on the inside of windows in white chalk paint. These beautiful illustrations feature botanical art and currently are being featured in Banyule as part of a new project from Banyule City Council called FROM MY WINDOW to help activate shopping strips.
Why only white line work? I have long loved working with black liner ink in my illustration work for it's intricacy and stark contrast against white paper. Using white line on glass is an extension of this exploration of contrast. The art really pops off the glass while still allowing light to enter inside. The effect from inside and outside of a window changes beautifully depending on where the sun is in the sky. A beautiful soft shadow can also be created across the floor inside. If there's a vertical surface close to the window (or a shade is drawn at the close of business) the art inside can create a gorgeous bold silhouette/shadow too! It's truly a magical medium to work with, and entrancing to look at.
